Friday, September 29 – Workshop on Escape Rooms [Game-based Learning]

In this first Game-based Learning Workshop, members of the DSI Gaming Community, serious game enthusiasts, and non-academic actors are invited to learn about and experience the digital and non-digital formats of Escape Rooms. This exciting and thriving format which started in the virtual (Planet Mephius, 1983, JAP) and is, by now, a beloved phenomenon for group or even team-building activities. Due to their special characteristics, including the motivational joys of puzzle solving and the sustainability of the experience, Escape Rooms are now more and more used in educational sectors. Talks by experts and project presentations will take you from a boutique Escape Room currently playable at the Zentralbibliothek to an Escape Room tackling Cybersecurity awareness, to the possibilities of creating an analogue Escape Room DIY kit and to a digital Escape Room adventure to explore the Zurich University and its history as well as to learn how to create your own digital Escape Room.
