First Lecture and Workshop of the Public Lecture Series „Games in Context“ with our fellow Prof. Johanna Pirker organized together with the Zentralbibliothek Zürich on Friday March 24 and Saturday March 25

Ein Jahr (oder mehr) hat Johanna Pirker Spiele aus jedem Land dieser Welt gesucht und gespielt. Dabei wurde vermehrt klar: Spiele sind Kulturgut.

In diesem Talk wird sie die Geschichten dieser Spiele und dieser virtuellen Reise erzählen. Johanna fordert die gängige Wahrnehmung von Spielen als reine Unterhaltung heraus und erforscht ihr Potenzial, verschiedene Aspekte unseres Lebens zu revolutionieren. Sie greift auf ihre Expertise im Bereich der Spieldesign und Forschung zurück und taucht in die faszinierende Welt der Spieleentwicklung ein, indem sie zeigt, wie Spiele genutzt werden, um komplexe Probleme zu lösen, Lernen zu fördern und soziale Verbindungen zu knüpfen.

Der Talk wird zeigen, wie das Videospiel-Design dazu beitragen kann, Menschen und Kulturen zu verbinden.

This lecture is the first in the Public Lecture and Workshop Series “Games in Context”, organized by the DSI Community Gaming with the ZBPlay Team from the Zentralbibliothekt as Outreach Event.
This public event features lectures by researchers from home and abroad, representatives of the local game industry, and other experts of the game scene. The evening lectures are accompanied by thematically linked workshops that are open to the interested public. It addresses the increasing influence of digital games on our society and is intended to provide the interested public with diverse access to the cultural asset of games. One of the declared goals of this series of events is to build up a community of participants who are interested in the modern but still underestimated topic of digital games and who want to engage in a mutual exchange of views on the many aspects of this topic
